Stop Failing and Make Britain Great Again
Winston Churchill Would be Absolutely Livid at Such Cowardly Leadership
You know your country is failing when a company is sticking two fingers up and refusing to pay its bills. Our leaders need to get a grip, stop being cowards and Make Britain Great Again, to steal a bit of inspiration from The Donald.
Volkswagen has agreed to pay out up to 24 billion dollars in the United States alone, which is a hell of a lot of money however you cut it. The fact they’ve already admitted liability in the US would make a pay out in other countries a mere formality, or so you would think. By refusing to give the UK the same respect shows that they think we’re weak.
They’re basically saying we’re a pushover and don’t deserve the same level of respect as the US – and you know what? They’re right, we don’t, because if we did they wouldn’t dare attempt such a brazen trick.
It’s not so much Dieselgate, but more like Diesel Rape by VW and we’re the ones getting it straight up the exhaust pipe.
Behind the scenes, though, and I’m guessing here. The big chiefs might be simply using this as a tactic to give them a bit of breathing space. Surely any solicitor worth his salt must realise that you can’t do two identical crimes, admit one in one country, and get away with the other when the whole world knows you’ve done it.
Imagine if they had to pay everyone out at once. That might be too much to handle, even with a bank account the size of Vokswagen’s. However, I’m only guessing, but time will tell once the class action law suit starts taking shape here in the UK.
British Drivers are Starting High Court ‘Dieselgate’ Claim
It’s taken a while to gather pace, but better late than never. When you’re in the wrong, it doesn’t matter if you’re an individual, famous or from the middle of nowhere. Punishment catches up with everyone. Big names don’t save you either. Just ask Titanic or Lance Armstrong. When you’re a big fish, there’s always a shark after biting your head off.
We used to have world-class leaders that lead the world. Now, it seems that we’ve got world-class arse lickers that do whatever they’re told by other countries who have stronger leaders with more confidence and vision. At least we’ve still got a general public who won’t stand for the nonsense from above. They’re appalled at the fakes who let them down time and time again. Why do we pay these muppets mega wages that they don’t deserve? It’s shocking that it seems Great Britain has lost its greatness. We need to stop living on past events and pull our socks up before we sink in the sand and can’t recover.
MPs Should be Embarrassed at Their Cowardice
It shouldn’t be left to the people to do the dirty work for our politicians. The MPs should be standing up to Volkswagen and saying get this sorted otherwise we will make you pay. What are they scared of? Let’s be real. Volkswagen needs us more than we need them. We have endless other choices of high-quality cars to choose from.
There are plenty of other more distinguished German marques, plus the likes of Jaguar are smashing it right now. Volkswagen should be running to us with their tail between their legs. They should be scared of losing our custom. The last thing they should be doing is turning us down when they’ve already crawled up America’s backside like mountaineers climbing a crack in a mountain side.
It’s not Just the Payout – They’re Even Ripping US on the Repairs
According to John German, from the International Council on Clean Transportation, an engineer who was one of the very first people to expose the whole diesel gate scandal. He reckons that the mechanical repairs and software fixes that Volkswagen is doing to their American cars is far more successful than the cheaper alternative they are carrying out in Europe.
What a disgrace – how VW have the nerve to treat Europeans this way is unethical.
As of September 30, 2015, it was confirmed that some five million Volkswagen-branded cars, 2.1 million Audi vehicles, 1.2 million Skoda automobiles and 700,000 Seat cars, as well as 1.8 million VW commercial vehicles were fitted with a defeat device in their engines, and were thus affected by the Volkswagen diesel deception scandal.
We have always come to trust German cars for their reliability and fastidiousness of build quality and engineering prowess. It seems that a few greedy and downright criminal entities at this manufacturing behemoth have put the gearbox in reverse to ruin their hard-earned image, steeped in billions of miles and polished paintwork, in not so much the blink of an eye, but the flash of a rogue software program.
It’s a sad reflection of what human beings are capable of.
Volkswagen Seems to Have Gotten off Lightly
Although the fallout is night-on nuclear, it seems that VW have gotten off rather lightly. Perhaps people’s love for the brand is worth more than the actions of a few selfish engineers and managers.
Yes, diesel sales are down, but overall things don’t look too bad, which is good. We don’t want VW to crash, all we want is what we rightly deserve. Nothing more and nothing less.
Imagine if something similar happened at Porsche or Ferrari, for example, people are still going to be in love with their favorite car brands. Nothing at all would make me hate on my favorite car and it looks like this is why people are still giving them a chance and rightly so. It’s Volkswagen’s job to try and save money. It’s our MPs jobs to try and squeeze the same VW directors and make sure that they don’t walk all over us like they are so blatantly trying to do – and they’re succeeding, even if it’s just temporarily.
Come on Downing Street, we need you to stand up and be counted. Show us that Churchill spirit and get the greedy German’s to cough up the same engineering and financial package that the American’s have got so swiftly.
