YouTuber Alejandro Salomon’s McLaren Senna Erupts in Flames in California
Unfortunately for McLaren owners, the limited-edition supercar is the third one to be damaged in under three months. Whether that is just down to bad luck or the lack of build quality with McLaren cars in general is another matter altogether.
For now though the most important issue is that Alejandro, also known by his YouTube name Salomondrin, is safe and well. Apparently he was taking the speedy motor for a spin out, in his native California, when the flames first appeared and then rapidly demolished his new toy.
Police Leaked the Pics of the Senna on Fire
Word is police leaked the first pics of the McLaren Senna pre-blaze on imgur. This was picked up by some of Salomondrin’s many followers, as they noticed the car on the back of a flat bed truck. The logos on the car bonnet are of his emerging company Seven Wellness. After all, it is hard to hide your brand new supercar when you’ve got 1.5 million followers on YouTube alone, not to mention his other social media accounts. The car itself isn’t exactly a shrinking violet either.
The Fire’s Cause is Currently Unknown
Alejandro has stated that neither he or anyone else crashed the car, with pictures of the incident corroborating his evidence. The car hasn’t any crash damage whatsoever in any of the pics or videos now released online.
To add to the confusion surrounding the incident, people who have tried to contact Salomondrin have been swiftly blocked. Perhaps he just sees them as nosey rather than helpful. Not to mention he isn’t going to be feeling very sociable, especially when he’s waited months for his brand-new supercar to arrive and then see it die in front of his very eyes. He probably hasn’t even run the engine in yet!
Salomondrin Confirms the Fire on his Instagram
Salomondrin confirms the fire on his Instagram account, where he points the finger at an officer from the Calabasas Police Department for the original leakage. He was the first to arrive on the scene. Where he stood no doubt matched the pictures.
Alejandro makes it a point to forgive the officer for posting photos of the fire, while reminding him that leaking pics online “isn’t part of his job description,” but Salomondrin is no doubt trying to make light of the situation, as he is a funny guy who loves to have fun. However, even the happiest of people would be feeling down if this were to happen to them. No doubt car lovers the world over will be asking for invites to the funeral. Unless, of course, the scrapyard is kept a secret from the car paparazzi.
This is the Third Lost Senna in Only Three Months
The first Senna to crash was a brand-new one in Germany, where it hit a wall. Then secondly a Senna in the UK, which was involved in a head on smash.
Now there are only 497 examples of the original 500 left their prices is only going to increase. One was recently auctioned for $1.9 million dollars, £1.5 million pounds sterling, a hefty increase on their original sticker price of roughly $1 million dollars plus local taxes.
People will say, don’t worry, insurance will cover it, but that is only half the story because the future resale value will be much higher than the original purchase price. Supercars appreciate in value. They don’t lose money like your average family car.
To be fair, though, Alejandro Salomon is a genuine car lover and you can see that shine through in his videos where the lads work as a threesome, just like the original Top Gear format of Jeremy, James and Richard. His friends are Farshad Tehrani and his video editor Buddy Wyrick who was formerly known as Pedro. See them all in action on Salomondrin’s YouTube channel.
